OOPS I’VE DONE IT AGAIN

Yep, it’s been almost six months since I last wrote in this blog. But… I do have justification… smiles sadly. As many of you know me and my rl situation, my beloved Duderz passed away Oct 1st… 2022. He was my rock, my foundation, my soulmate and I had a real tough time holding it together. We all knew it was coming, and he surpassed the doctors timeline for him by two years, those were bonus years I am grateful for, even though he suffered more and more each month. He was such a trooper and still made jokes and made those around him laugh and look at life in his silly way of accepting God’s will. I am happy he no longer suffers and is in supposedly a pain free zone… and I like to think he watches over me still as I continue this journey we call ‘real life’.

I’ve tried to do things that should help me through the process, sometimes when I think about it I say “OMG it’s only been a little over three months since he’s been gone”. Other times it feels like a lifetime of sorrow and grief and I wish it would end! I started a new blog about how to become an elderly widow… especially for those that were together with their loves more than fifty years. I redid the living room, the front porch and am working on the spare bedroom. I colored my grey to a beautiful brown with highlights and got a hair cut. I took a Road Trip and drove over 3,000K miles alone and proved to myself I am self sufficient. I spent Thanksgiving with my daughter and grandchildren and then spent Christmas alone with my memories and love of Jim to keep me warm.

Now what! HOPE! I am planning some fun times in the future… to go and meet friends I’ve had in SL for over 15 years and to see some of our beautiful USA countryside. Maybe do a couple cruises ? and the biggie… visit Europe, mainly Scotland and Ireland where my ancestors come from.

I have eased back into to my Virtual Lives… and am enjoying the escape that Second Life and Open Sim offers. But this time I am trying to keep a good balance between the two Real Life and Virtual Life. I watched ‘Ready Player One’ again the other night and the last words were exactly what I needed to not fall off this Earth and become…. a stat.

“…the OASIS will be completely shut down on Tuesdays and Thursdays, allowing folks to connect with one another in the real world.” Ready Player One… yes I am Ready! Are YOU?

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Sunbeam took some TIME off from blogging in the year 2016.  A lot of TIME off! A whole year of TIME off ! NOW she’s ready to start anew. 2016 was so full of lots of fun in OpenSim: special projects, special builds, HG VISIONZ magazine, many changes and much more she was involved with there just wasn’t any TIME left for blogging.

time

Anything and everything under the ‘Sun’ is fair game.  We decided to revamp the way we do our blog for 2017.  Instead of 50+ images showing her travels and friends and what she’s was up to in the OpenSim Metaverse each month, we choose NOW a simpler life, a simpler blog focusing on one subject at a TIME.    We may blog on thoughts, on a word (or two or three), on an OS destination, on an OS event, on a friend, or an enemy, or a spirit.  The main objective is to K.I.S.S. my blog (Keep it Short and Simple).

TIME is the word for today’s blog.

TIME: noun> “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole”.

TIME: verb> “plan, schedule, or arrange when (something) should happen or be done”.

TIME is that one thing one never has enough to do all they want to do.  We must use the verb TIME to make the noun TIME fulfil our dreams and visionz.  As most everyone knows, the best laid plans of Fairies and humans often go awry.  Things often go wrong even though you have carefully planned what you are going to do. With that said our new 2017 mottos shall be: ‘Go with the Flow’ and have a ‘Devil may care’ attitude and with thoughts like those TIME will always be on my side! I’m gonna ‘live in the moment’!!!

In closing I’d like to say “Happy New Year! Have fun, enjoy life and may 2017 be your best year ever!” Step in Sunshine

Delightful December

December has so many facets; A) End-of-the-Year month      B) Winter Solstice month     C)  Christmas Day.  All Delightful! End-of-the-Year conjures up hope for a better tomorrow and an exciting future.  Winter Solstice brings sparkle and beauty to our world, all bright, white and positive.  And Christmas Day bringing family and friends closer oozing love and unselfishly sharing our hearts and humanity, true and giving. We believe the Magic of Giving indeed brings happiness to all.

Sunbeam was so busy in this month of December 2015 she took over 200 photographs: building her Happy Holidays area at AAcme City, GCG, attending various HG tours, attended OSCC, began Mentoring at GCG, going to fab Winter/Christmas parties including a Masquerade Ball, where Sun won 2nd Place in Theme Dress contest,  joining in on two ‘Treasure Hunts’ (Tangle HG Hunt and GCG Winter Hunt) and chillin’ with friends and family! Of course we didn’t post all 200, lol, but do hope you enjoy our Delightful December Slideshow below.  Enjoy !  Smiles!

YAY 2016 is here.  Happy New Year to ALL!  and after much reflection and thought about Metaverse Magic,  the virtual adventures Sunbeam has experienced over the last three years, we have decided its time for a change.  A change to our format for 2016.  After reading a post by Selby Evans on blogging “Keep it Simple” Google +, that is exactly what we intend to try and do.  Instead of cramming a whole month of her adventures into one post, we will do a Simple Post detailing one event or activity at a time.  Hopefully blogging a few time per month.  Smiles!

As always my valued friends, and soon to be friends, thank you for visiting my Metaverse Magic and Step in Sunshine!

Obsessed by a fairy tale, we spend our lives searching for a magic door and a lost kingdom of peace. Eugene O’Neill

July Highs

July was a extremely hot month for my rl self, while my vr self saw ‘hawt’ things exploring the Metaverse.  Sun attended meetings, some cool parties and concerts (Mr. Mikie String and Torben Asp) and published a great issue of her VISIONZ magazine. She visited the Wizard of Oz (Kitely, Talia Sunsong)  and Alice in Wonderland (Franco, Cherry Manga)!  She also worked diligently on her contribution to the HG Story, Scene five. There were two tour groups who visited her beloved AAcme City in the month of July (HG Nights and HG Safari).  She also went to see her bff’s (Minethere Always) new huge 4×4 var region on Metropolis grid.  AND she won first place in a Kayak contest at the Grand Opening of Brantley No. 3 (Kitely, Ruby O’Degee).

Overall Sun had some really fun high times the first part of this summer.  Summer means sun and fun. Hope you’re haviing a wonderful Summer so far too!

Below is a slide show capturing some of her adventures.  Enjoy and always ‘Step in “Sunshine” with a happy attitude viewing your worlds with awe!

June Gloom Lasts over a Year

o pathWow! I’m ashamed of myself for letting my little blog sit idle for a year and a couple months.  Shame on Me!!!   The first few months I was just in a funk!  Then I went tumbling on a concrete floor and broke some bones. OUCH!    Then I started playing a time consuming internet web based game called City Of Steam:Arkadia… I’ve always been a be fan of anything remotely Steampunk.  My characters reached the highest level offered on four of the five servers (3 usa and 1 european) … AND I reached the highest level rank in my company guild. Phew! and there my friends is where my days have vanquished into gloomy mist and colorful pixels.

Although, every once in a while I would get a desire to pop into a Virtual World and when I did I had a fine time, especially when I was so honored in Second Life, as my Surfing Mermaid Kohana Schimmer, when asked to Judge at a SLSA Surfing Competition the day I popped in.  What luck!   What a great thrill seeing everyone and watching the surfers up close and personal.  I’d also pop in on my four sims located on Metropolis. Here I have placed a few of my favorite things like unicorns and beautiful flower gardens but alas I never stayed long.   My gloom caught up with me.

I don’t know what possessed me to do a post again, and also update my City of Steam page… but here I am typing away like I know what I’m saying.

I still believe the internet and metaverse hold a powerful magic and I still enjoy my time at the keyboard but I think … but still don’t know why gloom is ever present.   Perhaps my post today will make the sun shine brighter while chasing away the gloom so mine eyes might see a glorious dawn.

May all your dawns be breathtaking!

JUDGEMENT DAY IS HERE

I have been Grid Hopping all over the metaverse… having too much fun! meeting so many nice folks! and seeing so many amazing builds! But today I must make some tough decisions and cut the twenty-one (yes 21) grids I’m currently a member of down to a logical playing number.  I had said six (6) but maybe I’ll do 7 or 8 He he he Its so hard to pick.  All have wonderful attributes and are amazing!  During the month of December I visited each grid I’m a member of and wandered around feeling the invisible vibes that each grid gives.  Some are calm, some are eXciting, some were funny and fun and some were just there.

logo_virtualworld

We all look for different things when we are exploring the metaverse.   My criteria for choosing the grids I will frequent the most starting off the New Year were: the people I got to know in each grid, the opportunities offered to veteran players like myself and to ‘newbies’,  the economy system (some have none at all), the events the grid offers (like games and contests), and the founders.  A friend asked me “don’t you evaluate the stability too?”  No I don’t… since leaving SL to venture out into Open Source grids I have experienced many unstable and many technical difficulties on the os grids I’ve been playing over the last three years.  It’s a given there will never be another SL  (where most everything works) so the lower cost and excess prim usage and free uploads that os grids offer mean more to me than the stability.  I don’t mind clearing my cache and re-logging.  I don’t mind if I show up as a ruth or nakies or without hair LMAO  It’s kind of fun and goes along with ‘remember when’ memories stored in my memory banks since first stepping into a virtual world.

HOW MANY ARE TOO MANY?

Greetings! its been 3 months since my last post and as always I can’t believe that much time has passed so quickly.   I’ve been very busy in many VWz. Since my ban (Feb 2011) I believe I’ve joined at at least two dozen grids or so.  Just today I told myself and another banned friend that in the new year 2013 I’m gonna reduce my blogs down to two and my vw’z down to six or seven lol.

Its true each is a bit different in feel and atmosphere as you roam their sims and explore the marvelous visions of the creators brought to life with pixels.  What’s really amazing is how you run into old friends and make new friends everyday by visiting lots of grids.  I now consider myself a true blue (actually I’m a pink skinned fae)  ‘Gridhopper’ ! And not to toot my own horn, but open sim VW have given me the tools and indirectly the self confidence I need to be a good creator.  I love building… big builds, little builds, any builds!

Which VW’z have you joined you ask? Why let me list them…  WHAT Virtual World, Avatar Connection, Third Rock (3rg), 3dMee (by invite only), Craft, Island Oasis, Haven, Lost Paradise, Metropolis, Olantic, Science Sim, SpotOn3D, Kitely, OSgrid (in no particular order).  A few I went to and hard troubles so didn’t go back… one when I downloaded their software broke my computer and it took weeks to get it fix.  Lol Anyway those are just a few I can name off the top of my head. And I’m sure I’ll be trying out more as I hear about them.

Virtual Worldz are the places I enjoy being when interneting! Here I am asking Santa for ‘Peace and Happiness’ for all worlds, real or virtual!  If you see me in a world, stop and say Hello! I love to chat.  Happy Gridhopping!

Swimming through Life

While growing up in the North America States of Florida and California, my favorite thing to do was swim. It’s  my very first and forever love of life.  my Daddy taught me to how to swim and dive.   Along with hundreds of other Navy bratz, as we were called, I did benefit from  a few swim lessons offered on the Navy base. My Dad was a lifer. A Pearl Harbor survivor, but not from the nightmares and secrets he harbored,   I’ve always thought of it like a Choctaw NdN sacred spirit running through our ancient blood. Surviving and Swimming, its what we best instinctively, those skills are surely are Salvation. With Summer Solstice passed its time to swim in the cool rivers, lakes, and oceans and soak up warm to get us through the upcoming Winter.  The waterways are like the veins of our Earth snaking around the globe down to the tiniest trickle. Summer, a time to enjoy nature and the remnants Spring left us as colorful blooms bursting to mature.  For as long as I can remember the Sun and the Heart have always been like my tokens, icons of my soul.  I’ve been thinking a lot lately about swimming, and internal symbols of happiness since finish reading The Hunger Games. I saw so many layers in the storyline, reminding me of the metaverse.  Reminding me of the stories my NdN grandmother use to tell us during our visits together. Grandmothers and Family, now that’s another story! Enjoy the Summer.

VIRTUAL WORLD BAN

Virtual Worlds, or commonly referred to as ‘VW’… have you been in one? or two or three?? I recall the overwhelming feeling of entering a magical place the first time I connected to my first VW called ‘Second Life’ back in the spring of 2006.  Magical is the best word to describe the look and feel of a virtual world.  The virtual world is full of beautiful colorful amazing creations from the imagination of many cultures and global members.  You can call up a sunrise or a sunset with the click of your mouse.  You can fly high above the virtual terrain or fly low following streams of glistening waters through fields of virtual flowers. You wonder how it works, but don’t really care.  You’re amazed and awed and then you meet another VW player.  And the real adventures begin.

After many years of VW playing I feel like I’ve seen and done most everything one can do in a VW. Then the unbelievable happened.  My partner, Duderz Lebowski  and I were ‘banned’ from the VW grid called ‘InWorldz’.  We lost two years of our created virtual items and now can not pop in on our many friends and see how they are doing.  It’s been a month now since the ban, and we’re still feeling sad and wronged.  In a nutshell, a fraud and scam was being played out by another player who was high into ‘drama’ so he faked his death and asked for donations from the good citizens of InWorldz.  His alleged real sister posted the details of this  ‘real world’ scenario, saying he was in a horrific auto accident and died at the scene.  My partner, who owns AAcme Detective Agency, established in Second Life in 2007, investigated this fraud, found out the truth and gave his report to the citizens to decide for themselves.  In this report only the avatar name was used (which is the same name he uses in Facebook: NO REAL LIFE NAME OR ADDRESS WAS  USED).  Given today’s technology, within hours we had all the information needed to refute their claim.

]Kill the messenger!!!! that is exactly what the owners (aka: founders) of InWorldz did in their ridiculous effort to keep us quiet. And lo and behold a month later the avatar who “died” in real life arose from the dead and is back playing in InWorldz as if nothing happened.  Oh and also with the blessing of the founders.  There is really nothing we can do, its their world, their business and they can run it however they wish, fairness be damned! Many citizens protested our ban, and spoke out in support of us. We were told some of them were also banned from the ‘forum’  (a place where discussions take place regarding the virtual world) for speaking out.

Today I post my first VW Blog.  Today InWorldz is having their first convention in Las Vegas. I know some of  those attending will surely be in fear to speak out about notable subjects.  The InWorldz folks say their world is different, their world is friendly and their world is a real community working together.  This could not be further from the truth.  Their world is run by a hot-headed, miserable, non-listening tyrannical leader who loves ‘drama’ and makes snap decisions without bothering to examine all the facts.  But most of all she loves the fact that she is God in this world and will always have the last word be it right or wrong.  “Are you not ashamed of heaping up the greatest amount of money and honour and reputation, and caring so little about wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul?”  ~Socrates

The arrogance and heavy handed manner in which the InWorldz founders handle disputes between residents is well known by more than half of the residents I’ve spoken to about it over the last two years.  A rule of thumb used is “whoever pays the most tier wins the fight”.  As a business decision this makes sense.  However, it is my belief that most residents are looking for a place to create content for the  virtual world, not be harassed, and to have some fun. If you’re playing on the InWorldz grid now, ask yourself  “How long has it been since I had fun in InWorldz”?  While many residents are struggling to conduct a business in a VW the sad truth is that those “content buyers” who would become their customers will move on to a world where they are not treated as second class citizens.

Due to this situation, the founders amended their Term of Service in another ridiculous effort to confuse the situation and making it appear that we violated some code of ethics or privacy rights.   The link we gave to the residents  is the same link on the avatar’s profile for anyone to view, we did not violate his privacy.

We will watch the demise of this grid, which could have been one of the best, with sorrow.  It will always be tainted by this situation which could have  been handled with style and grace and never of gotten out of control had the founder been a compassionate leader.  My hope is more InWorldz residents will finally see the light and leave on their own accord to a better and brighter world.  There are many many many grids to play on now, (Like Second Life, 3rd Rock, OSgrid, Avination, Avatar Connection and Tertiary, just to name a few) not like it was back at the turn of the century when Second Life dominated the VW concept.

Initially we hoped to be reinstated as residents in InWorldz but recent developments have convinced us beyond any doubt we are better off for having escaped.

Safe paths,

Sunbeam
