MUSIC, I MUSE

“Songs express who we are and how we feel, they bring us closer to others, they keep us company when we are alone. They articulate our beliefs and values, and they bear witness to our lives. Songs weave tales of our joys and sorrows, they reveal our innermost secrets, and they express our hopes and disappointments, our fears and triumphs. They are our musical diaries, our life stories. They are the sounds of our personal development”.

NEW year new goals. One new year’s resolution was to have more music in my life! I tried to visit youtube, or iHeart or my vid stream on Facebook and listen to new and old songs each morning! As I drink my coffee and consider the day and reflect on yesterday the music soothes my soul. I don’t know about you but I have always loved music! I was in the church choir as a youth and even though I don’t think my voice was that of a singer I belted out the songs with all my heart.

As I got older vinyl records became my obsession. I had one of the those little portable suitcase looking record player and would carry it around with me to my friends houses. I recalled my neighbor and close girlfriend who lived across the street from me, we once listened to a new Elvis song over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Laughing at the memory.

My mother use to stop by the record store on her way home from work sometimes and pick up a bundle of 45’s that were on the sale rack and bring them home to me. Some were very weird songs! But sometimes, I would discover a Song that touched my heart and soul and to this day I still hear the tune play in my head. One was called the Trumpeter’s Prayer… an instrumental that a wild teenager like me would never buy on her own.

As I got older and the internet came out I joined many music sites. Some were very erotic where we would talk to other members through song titles. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Then I found Second Life where music and dancing was the highpoint of my second life. Live concerts from so many genres to choose from. Getting to know these folks from around the world and learn of their musical talents. Dj’s who played a variety of music while our avatars bantered and danced and had the time of our life.

With Music!

Summertime Dance

Music, let it carry to you to new places. Let it fill up your heart and soar your soul. Some say music is therapy that perhaps provide a small window into what makes it so special and magical! Listen to the music as you dance your way through this journey we call our life. “Where words fail, music speaks.”.

Dances on Water

Dances on Water is the Native American name for Mimzy Runningbear, my Second Life Avatar role player on the BL Borderlands sims. Mimzy has lived with the Apaches her whole life. She is half Choctaw (my real life Indian heritage) and half Apache. Her parents died when she was ten summers young and the Elder Tama took her in, raised her, of course with the help of the whole tribe. She is now 20 summers old and recently became a fierce Warrior like her Father. She also is training to become a Healer like her Mother. The tribe loves to play music, dance and have fun with horse races, canoe races and raiding the white man’s town or camps taking prisoners when they can. There are many Outlaw gangs who often raid the Apache pueblo and cause much bloodshed and chaos. Mimzy loves her life and all her sisters and brothers!

June Gloom Lasts over a Year

o pathWow! I’m ashamed of myself for letting my little blog sit idle for a year and a couple months.  Shame on Me!!!   The first few months I was just in a funk!  Then I went tumbling on a concrete floor and broke some bones. OUCH!    Then I started playing a time consuming internet web based game called City Of Steam:Arkadia… I’ve always been a be fan of anything remotely Steampunk.  My characters reached the highest level offered on four of the five servers (3 usa and 1 european) … AND I reached the highest level rank in my company guild. Phew! and there my friends is where my days have vanquished into gloomy mist and colorful pixels.

Although, every once in a while I would get a desire to pop into a Virtual World and when I did I had a fine time, especially when I was so honored in Second Life, as my Surfing Mermaid Kohana Schimmer, when asked to Judge at a SLSA Surfing Competition the day I popped in.  What luck!   What a great thrill seeing everyone and watching the surfers up close and personal.  I’d also pop in on my four sims located on Metropolis. Here I have placed a few of my favorite things like unicorns and beautiful flower gardens but alas I never stayed long.   My gloom caught up with me.

I don’t know what possessed me to do a post again, and also update my City of Steam page… but here I am typing away like I know what I’m saying.

I still believe the internet and metaverse hold a powerful magic and I still enjoy my time at the keyboard but I think … but still don’t know why gloom is ever present.   Perhaps my post today will make the sun shine brighter while chasing away the gloom so mine eyes might see a glorious dawn.

May all your dawns be breathtaking!

Busy as a Bee *:-.,_,.-:*:-.,_,.-:**:-.,_,.-:*

If the first half of February was slow going for Sunbeam the second half found her zigzagging from grid, back and forth, to grid, while trying to juggle up many projects with deadlines and many start ups, new opportunities and adventures.  Where to start! giggles… oh we visited Second Life a couple times too and thoroughly enjoyed being back in our legacy world.

First, after Valentines’ Sunbeam took down the hearts, flowers and chocolates from her shop ‘SunbeamS’ located on OLanatic  being true to her heart she is setting up Fantasy items for the new look!  Zigzag on to 3rg (3rd Rock Grid) to help with Robstock 2013 by setting up a booth in the venue area and posting lots of info on Facebook and Google+. This year Haven Your World grid was added to the simulcast of the event along with Second Life, long time partner.  Of course Sunbeam had to zigzag over to Haven too!  All for a great  cause, the charity ‘Doctors without Borders‘.  The event raised 850$ USA dollars to donate.  Great job VW and GH avatars around the world!

Zigzag now over to Island Oasis and Sunbeams start work on a new contest build, theme: Beach Club.  Visions in my head swirl as I fly over through the metaverse of under`the`sea colors and mermaids float across my focus.  Sunbeam did not win the contest but had a grand time playing with the prims and be part of the contestants circle.  According to one founder, Sunbeam did come in second place Woot hoo! Also visited my friends Kat and Lion and and exclaimed what a great job she is doing on her Space house.  Kat and I went to the new zombie region too and danced and explored.  The region reminded me of AAcme City quite often.

Next (usually in the wee hours of the morning when most sleep and the world outside my window is quiet elegance) Sunbeam stealthily  zigzags over to Tundra 3D where the kind owners, Lucio and Avon, (romantic Italians ladies!), have provided Sunbeam with a sim..  Thank you!  Sunbeam will  never ‘finish’ this project, she insanely doesn’t care! She is having too much fun!  We are dreaming of  a Fairytopia… a work of love, where creatures of all types can drop in for a chat and some peace.  A stroll thru colors and warmth.

Sunbeam then spent more time in Metropolis with her dear friend Miney (Minethere Always) playing with toys, working on a Steampunk region and discussing the most wonderful and important issues of the day… Virtual Worlds, are they here to stay?  ROFL

Sunbeam did find some time to go dancing with friends in a few different grids and at one party won $375 P’s for a Best in Beachwear contest… heck we all had on bikini’s so I think it was my pale glittery pink skin that really won 🙂 Sunbeam told them her skin was made by sunrise kisses. Giggles. A grand time with hostess Vickie Day was had by all who came.  Vickie embarrassed Sun by saying it was Sun who gave Vickie her very first DJ gig in InWorst and at a nude region too.  LOL Fun times years ago! Of course my friend and special talented artist Torben Asp played for Doctors without Borders at the Robstock event and the donation thermometer went off the charts while Torben performed his magic particle show playing his soul wrenching music in accompaniment.  A real treat for everyone!

Sunbeam took lots and lots of pictures while grid hopping and will drop the best ones for your viewing pleasure below with captions.  She is trying to be more ‘arsty’ fartsy, as she likes to call it, and took a few weirdo snapshots and insisted on posting them on her blog,   sooooooo Enjoy!   Forgive her impertinence! She gets over eXcited while fluttering from grid to grid like the bee who flutters from flower to flower takes in the fragrance of life.  What a magical secret garden sort of life Sunbeam lives!

Step in Sunshine! and if you feel like doing a quick little jigsaw puzzle, pop over to SunbeamS Jib tab on top of the blog.

More FUN in Virtual Worlds

Yesterday I talked about music and virtual worlds.  Today let’s dance! Yes one can puppeteer their avatar to dance, alone or with a partner or with a group.  In the beginning dances were done by clicking on a ‘pose ball’, pink for ladies and blue for the gentlemen.  There are also large floating Dance Balls (allows 20 or more avatars to dance and holds 20 or more dances) and Dance Systems where you choose which dance you want from a menu and can change at will.  You can also make your own HUD (Heads Up Display) where you program in your favorite dances.

Then there is the ‘chim’ which you wear, most popular place to wear is the hip. All the dances in the chim are choreographed in a sequence of your choice.  The ‘chim’  is similar to the HUD except the dances loop and you do not choose which dance to activate. The chim is  invisible and only your friends can click on your chim, or you can send them an invite to dance with  you step by step.

Virtual worlds have many specialized dances too, like the River Dance which is very popular with the Irish members and the surfing community (another blog subject to come) or John Travolta’s Saturday Night Live dance or one of my favorites Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance.

So pop on in a virtual world and let’s dance! your feet won’t ache and you can literally ‘Dance ALL Night’… have FUN!
