AUGUST ADVENTURES

August was an unusual month for Sunbeam, as about ten (10) of those days Dude and I were off in the RL grid on summer vacation. August was a lonely month as many other virtual friends also take off into the RL and are greatly missed.  Well, let me tell you when Sun returned to her world, she made up for lost time and went to a dozen or so concerts and music events, whoa slow down girly!!!  Sunbeam’s partying even went to the extreme of dancing in her birthday suit, baring it all at Hedonism, Refuge Grid.

Sun got herself a couple new outfits: one from the returned and beloved Linda Kellie Free templates, a mesh mini dress. Her second new outfit was a gift from the Guest Writer, Linda Diva (in Augusts’s VISIONZ magazine issue).  Her third new outfit was gifted by Shannan Albright, called Fantasia.  Sun felt so behind and was in such a hurry to publish on time, she made a real boo-boo adding the wrong picture set to the wrong article, (oops and ugh!) but all in all the magazine was well received.  Sunbeam is truly a blessed fairy with so many kind and giving friends.

Sun got right to work on her HG Story, Scene Five (with Nara’s Nook grid), and Sun attended a most informative NPC seminar put on by Nara Malone. I think even though she was totally overwhelmed,  a few things did penetrated her virtual brain and my old real life brain.  Giggles.  She is such a lucky little Fairy having Fred Beckhusen work with her on her Scene Five portion of the HG Story.  He has spent hours and hours patiently teaching her how to do animations and make her NPC’s walk, talk and come to life!

Sun made sure to check all her scripts and teleporters on AAcme City and at her FREEBIE store after the great move to a new servers hosting company (Great Canadian Grid).  She also visited her friends Kat and Lion Ewry’s new regions on GCG kayaking around and visited her friend, Kamira Sirnah’s completed Bath House and Temples.  Wowsa to both regions’ fanastic look!  She also went to the Drum Circle and the Market Day weekly events on the GCG The River Lands. There she learned how to gather essentials and bake bread.  Time permitting Sunbeam is planning on engaging in Role Play with tRL perhaps starting sometime in January 2016.  Smiles.

Well my fellow virtual world adventurers, I believe we have inundated you with plenty of pictures and chat reliving the month of August through Sunbeam’s eyes.  ♥As always my valued friends and soon to be friends, Step in Sunshine! ♥

“Crazy as a Loon’

My title reflects my insane laughter as I merrily skip from grid to grid making new friends and new promises! Another ‘slang’  phrase that comes to mind is ‘biting off more than I can chew’  or perhaps I just drink too much coffee…LOL

The month of May found Sun pretending she was a Movie Star when asked to be in Nara Malone and Fuchsia Nightfire’s 2nd tutorial video on “NPC” fun  , Sun also visited about two dozen grids, went on three HG tours, complied and published the 3rd Issue of VISIONZ magazine (38 pages woot), went to a couple of Metropolis’s 7th Birthday parties, partied at the Tangle grid’s Fashion Expo exhibit, worked on her Enchanted Village (Hidden Glenn region) on Tangle, started progress on a castle for her Fairytopia sim at SimValley grid, visited Kamis Haven  – The River Lands  – Cedar Point and Shoalwaters Bay  regions at her home grid of GCG, hooked up with her dear friends Lion and Kat Ewry and Daisy Coronet and DJTommy Seetan, had Balpien Hammerer visit AAcme City and ride the chopper and then declare it “an amazing build, had fun!” ,  added a couple new blogs to the Blogz “R” Us offices, and of course continued working on tweaking and creating AAcme City with her soul mate AAcme Fall.  Judy Muircastle specially scripted a couple of her awesome vehicles (The Chopper and the Bonnie and Clyde car) so that now anyone visiting AAcme City can rezz a ride and drive all around the 3×3 var (downtown area, country, beach, forest and mountains)  and we finished connecting our paved roads land level to the two story roads hovering above the city.  Phew!

Of course I took lots and lots of pictures which I will display here as slide show (40 images wow and I could added more ☻) instead of my typical laundry list of images 🙂

June looks to be just as busy for Sun. She is so excited to hold the first official VISIONZ magazine meeting now that we have official staff members! And on June 13th, Saturday, Sun is the ‘Guest Tour Guide’ for Metaverse Tours… hope you will join us.  I’ve chosen 3 regions on 3 different grids  hoping everyone will enjoy.  So stay tuned as Sun continues to be Crazy as Loon ha ha ha ha (insane laughter).

As always my valued friends and soon to be friends, Step in Sunshine, enjoying your time!

JUDGEMENT DAY IS HERE

I have been Grid Hopping all over the metaverse… having too much fun! meeting so many nice folks! and seeing so many amazing builds! But today I must make some tough decisions and cut the twenty-one (yes 21) grids I’m currently a member of down to a logical playing number.  I had said six (6) but maybe I’ll do 7 or 8 He he he Its so hard to pick.  All have wonderful attributes and are amazing!  During the month of December I visited each grid I’m a member of and wandered around feeling the invisible vibes that each grid gives.  Some are calm, some are eXciting, some were funny and fun and some were just there.

We all look for different things when we are exploring the metaverse.   My criteria for choosing the grids I will frequent the most starting off the New Year were: the people I got to know in each grid, the opportunities offered to veteran players like myself and to ‘newbies’,  the economy system (some have none at all), the events the grid offers (like games and contests), and the founders.  A friend asked me “don’t you evaluate the stability too?”  No I don’t… since leaving SL to venture out into Open Source grids I have experienced many unstable and many technical difficulties on the os grids I’ve been playing over the last three years.  It’s a given there will never be another SL  (where most everything works) so the lower cost and excess prim usage and free uploads that os grids offer mean more to me than the stability.  I don’t mind clearing my cache and re-logging.  I don’t mind if I show up as a ruth or nakies or without hair LMAO  It’s kind of fun and goes along with ‘remember when’ memories stored in my memory banks since first stepping into a virtual world.

RL vs. Metaverse

HELLLLLLLLLLLLO! I’m back …. sorry folks, my computer died a month ago (registry issues) and trying for two weeks to fix it myself I about gave up! ugh!!! I did have access to the Dude’s computer, but his is sooooooooooo different I felt like a foreigner who didn’t know the language struggling just to survive each moment and hoping I won’t fatally break something by hitting the wrong key.  Talk about trepidation!

For the last six to seven years I have been a Metraverse Junkie! Its the first thing I do each morning with coffee. Email, FB, Poker, Games and Grids… and to believe this all started with ‘Pong’ LMAO!  Anyway after getting hooked on grid games, starting with Second Life, and then when ‘open sim’ became available and you got free photo uploads, and imports, and could virtually ‘build and rezz for free’ I signed up with at least a dozen or more new worlds to explore. I must admit I was probably hopping these grids and sitting upright for 10+ hours per day. Yaaaa! A total genuine bona fide additive grid junkie!  Sometimes working on a special project, such as the InWorldz Home and Residences Exposition 2011 I found myself staying up all night to work in the quiet wonder of the pixelated colors and objects glowing likes ghosts of the past and future escaping from my 22″ LED screen into my living room.  My imagination went wild changing my avatar from being a mermaid one week and a pixie the next, or a Steampunk Lady, moving through the regions fluttering around like a butterfly ~ free.

With a broken wing, one can not fly so I learned to fill my real time with good old fashioned techniques of times past.  Of course the first activity I drove into was reading (Recommend: Eragon series by Chritopher Paolini, four book series! Excellent!).  I found myself staying up to 4 am in the morning (reminiscence of Grid Games) with my books.  Still lost in the  ‘fantasy’ escape, cheering on the Dragon and running through the fields in a different time zone.  My mind interlinked with the characters and enjoying the moment.

Then came jigsaw puzzle working out in the sunbeams and sunshine, Vitamin D and warm feelings .  A real rl mind game, jigsaw puzzles.  A challenge with many benefits. And as I’m outside in the sunlight my neighbors come strolling bye and say “Hello”… real live people, no bubbles, no awkward stances or poses yep its the real thing.   Your virtual friends of pixies, and mermaids, and Lady and Lords are just as real live too surrounded by imaginative creations built with virtual wood cubes… amazing!

I must say I’m happy to have my computer back, but at the same time I hope my self control will allow me to enjoy the metaverse in moderation. It was there when needed to fill time as the wait began for retirement days. I know I’ll always be a daily fix kind of gal who must turn on the love lights of the www basking a beautiful pale sheen on my cheek bones as I fly from site to site, soaking up knowledge and learning something everything.  Then I remember, I must soak up the Sunbeams too to survive both worlds.

Blown to Smithereens

Yep… my computer exploded, died, kapoot…. its gone gone gone! AS I was “gridhopping” and exploring new worlds I saw a new one advertised called “Virtual Cities”.  I thought this is perfect for us, since we do prim cities.  I went to download the program (it redirected me to Alpha Towne, which we had been active players in a couple years ago so was really excited to see it was being revived) and then after the download and restart,  it had eaten one of my vital .dll files AND I could not even get into ‘safe mode’ to ‘restore’ to previous date.  After numerous tries and having to turn the tower off manually, now my computer won’t come on at all.   Dratz!

I  am able to use my hubby’s computer some what but it sooooooooooooooo different than mine (he has Vista, I had XP, he uses IE I use Firefox).  It just isn’t the same at all! I feel lost and isolated without my computer.  Who would of dreamed a computer would become such an important element to the quality of life in the ‘home’? I paid my bills on it, kept in touch with childhood friends, looked up receipes, searched medical info, chatted with family and of course played ‘games’ and wiled away my leisure hours having loads of fun.   Don’t know when I will get a new one.  I’m now doing jigsaw puzzles by hand, oh lordy! Anyway, to look on the bright side, when I do get a new computer the inner workings should be higher quality and with more advanced technology than my five year old custom built one.  Smiles.

Needless to say my blog posts will be limited.  Dratz again!
